Any News from anyone?, I'm just recovering from a heavy cold and have felt a bit 'ruff', here comes winter. I'm hoping to get out in the garden this weekend to do a bit more tidying and digging before it gets too cold, I'm not a cold weather gardener, Brrr, not for me 😁. I have been following the Brexit talks and it seems to me that the EU are dragging their feet, it seems ( to me) that they just want us gone if 'we' don't give or do exactly as they want. It's just my impression that are saying 'you wanted to leave, well here's the door'. Hope I'm wrong as we do need each other. Any other thoughts from anyone?

Glad you're on the mend Jackie. I think my husband may have caught your heavy cold, I'm keeping well out of his way!  The main news for gardeners is to do as much as possible in the next few days to avoid the tail end of Hurricane Ophelia making landfall this weekend.  Be careful out there.  Anyone else remember Hill Street Blues?

Lis, the more time you spend outdoors, the less likely you are to fall prey to colds etc.!

I spent this morning getting rid of the runnerbean vines and sticks, then  clearing the ground ready to plant out some spring greens. I then re-potted my currant cuttings, ready for next season!

Maureen, he spends most of his waking hours outdoors, still fell prey to Jackie's cold, wafted on a gentle breeze no doubt.

The thing is Lis, who gave it to me, not impressed with this one at all, haven't even had my flu jab yet, sorry to your hubby, I do like to share, should have been a bit more selfish maybe. Hope I didn't share with my family in Southend, went there Sunday, with a sore throat , oh well too late now, and yes do remember Hill Street Blues and Spotty Dog from the Wooden Tops. 😁

I never have the flu jab. Hubby always used to, but then suffered for several weeks, he gave up having them a few years back, and has been fine. This year he has decided to have one tomorrow morning.  The surgery said they no longer put live vaccine in the jab. Will wait  and see hoe he gets on

Has nobody got any news about what they're up to,  or seen anything to report, I'm not really interested in playing A-Z games, I like to know what's going on in Tendring, surely everyone must be doing something.  We need some chats on here.

Yes he had has his jab this morning.

Quite amaising, you have to phone on the day between  8 and 10 for an appointment, but by 5 past 8 all appointments gone. But yesterday at 2 pm he decided to have the jab. He phoned surgery and surprise surprise, yes come 10 45 tomorrow.

Could this be because they get paid to do it.

As far as the Brexit negotiations it seems that the EU will not discuss a trade deal unless we agree to pay them several billion. I thought a trade deal was more in their interests than ours. I just hope we stand our ground for a change and don't cave in to their demands. And no, I won't have the flu jab either!

I've had the flu jab!  At the local pharmacy, so no queuing.  Also, I'm going to see Neil Diamond next week; I expect he's had his too.  Nothing much else to report Jackie, except a few late ripening figs.  Has anybody experimented with covering a second fig crop to help with ripening?  I'm contemplating green fig chutney next week.

Yes Jackie I agree, I am not into the game either. I am wondering what new peeps might think when they come into the forum as there are currently 21 threads titled Store cupboard staples, makes it a little confusing to find a thread to join in.  I also had my flu jab at Boots in Holland, cost me £10 but worth it considering I am now mixing with well over 1200 young people lol. I am in week 6 of my new job at CCA and am now counting down the days till half term, as you do! lol  Been pretty knackered as have gone back to work after having had two and a half years off! As far as Brexit is concerned I am too knackered tonight to even think about it apart from being frustrated that it is taking so long to strike a deal 🙂

Well we now have 593 members and only about 10 have any input. I keep trying to think what everyone used to talk about on Street life, to try to get everyone involved. If there was no A to Z there would be nothing going on for days. If new members are reading this, please get some new ideas going

Lis, I'm interested in that green fig chutney!! My late ones always seem to drop off (the figs I mean), so are useless!

Thanks Lis!

Regarding 'Brexit', I don't understand all the machinations, that seem to be going on!!

If someone wants to leave a club...................they leave!! They may have to give in their notice, or stay to the end of the year to get their money's worth, but they don't get fined!!

Come on Dave B, you usually have a comment on this sort of thing! (Much enjoyed, I must admit!!)

What I don't understand  is that the EU has amassed millions of pounds of assets, helped paid for by us over the last 40 years. They have a million pound wine cellar, properties,  and a money pot. Why are we not asking for our share back in the negotiations, as you would in any divorce, probably then we would owe them nothing.

No Germany and France know they are the only counties who will have to make up the deficit when we LEAVE, so that is why they are making it so hard. Do you think if one of the members who pay nothing in, wanted to leave, they would be so b minded.

Think we have to stand our ground, don't know if T May can hack it.

Glad the job is going well Gill H and at least you havn't had to put up with the road works 'At' the moment. I too am having my jab at Boots on Monday.  Lis, hope you enjoy Neil Diamond, I love his film the Jazz Singer, one of my favourites, getting all nostalgic now thinking about when I use to play his LPs. Well did a bit of garden tidying yesterday and will do some more in next couple of days, if I can stand the heat on Monday, I hope this weather continues a bit longer, once I put the heating on there goes Summer and hibernation will set in for me, can't say I'm lookin forward to wet, cold, grey days, dont mind crisp and bright even snow, cant stand rain. Have a lovely weekend everyone. (Read that ECC want the Councils and Police to toughen up on the Travellers illegal encampments,  by the Police having a dedicated Officer, 'they' think Essex is 'an easy touch', let's hope this happens and we notice a difference starting next year.)

I sometimes wonder if tt could be made a little easier to use. I don't know if it would be possible to have

each forum in a sesperate folder, so you just see the heading eg A to Z so if you are interested you click to see the posts. Think this would make it

easier for new members. I think the new posts get lost so nobody replies to the more inclusive threads
