Tried this today as hubby not feeling up to going out on his milestone birthday......they have an extensive menu, prompt delivery and the special offer of £2.99 fish and chips plus delivery was very acceptable.  Hubby had a curry which he said was really nice.....thought they had missed his rice and when I phoned they were very apologetic and said they would be round very quick......they phoned back to tell me it was in with the curry, sorry.

Would recommend having a look at their menu especially for home delivery, well worth it and it was nice.......various specials at £2.99

Dead right Stuart, thankfully the planning was refused for yet another fish & chip shop at the old canoe shop in HoS. Golden fillet in Frinton road,Pete's fish & Grill in Kings Avenue,Colin's in Holland Road. How many do we need within such a short distance?

I think HoS could do with a couple more qwerky Restaurants as we have Maffias, Mayflower (never open), and that Italian opposite the Donkey.
I went to Colchester with Wife and kids yesterday (only Nandos) and thought it was lovely walking around with all restaurants.
I don't feel that walking through Clacton of an evening 😉
I imagine it'd be even more so with tables etc outside in the Summer.
Was even thinking about opening an Indian one myself lol
But yeah, no more Chip Shops please!

Maybe they will change the Mayflower to an Indian......dont think we need any more in HoS - we are a village. Wherever restaurants are they are likely to be near residential so someone will get the smells.  I personally dont like the smell of many spices so wouldnt want to be near any restaurants or takeaways.  Am also glad they didnt get planning permission for the old canoe shop....would however make a nice little wine bar, coffee shop or paper shop.

Way way out of town I know, but talking of food (love food do I) but, it was one of my daughters birthday plus my 9 year old grandsons birthday both tomorrow so, what we do is all meet up in Stanway and either do the harvester or like today, done Frankie & Benny`s..

My daughter from Romford gets to Stanway in roughly half hour, the same as it takes us going from jaywick so its Ideal for us, anyway, today, there was - 7 adults and 4 children... we had main menus, plus drinks (me coffee) and childs menus plus Items from the sweet menus.. the good news Is I had a 50% discount on adults mains through on line joining up, but as It was my treat (good old dad again) with a £37.85 discount on the total, it still came to £150. 65.... I paid up & looked big not wanting to show how much pain i was in...lol... KIDS eh, Birthdays - pressies -  then daft old grandad says YEH lets go out for a meal/....lol... Already spent £80 on the 9 year old, and gave my daughter £40 bless her....Next time I think I`ll look for £3 fish shop meals............lol

would take far too long to explain why we retired 10 years early and moved here,
but never regretted doing either.

I bet there would be more than a few people living in Brighton Road that would disagree with you and I wouldn't blame them

Agree, A harvester would be nice here, but, the moon and starfish do various themed days, fish & chips on fridays, nothing as good as Johny macs but nor is JM`s prices, then there is the Martello that does as much as you can eat breakfasts before ? 11 I think and carvery after... To be honest, we have used the  roaring donkey midweek after collecting the grandson from school, as the kids love the garden equipement but only in summer time.. I have not tried the greek place on the seafront yet nor the restaurant in the Bowling alley its name is "Armstrongs" i think but you will never go hungry in Clacton will you....lol..... another on my  must try in warmer weather is almost next door to ALDI`s, with eat in or alfresco if its warmer, as they got a seated area out front so all the world can see you eating, but South of France its not..

would take far too long to explain why we retired 10 years early and moved here,
but never regretted doing either.

Think we are very well served all in all.  Johnny Macs eat in prices can be eased by having takeaway and sitting on the beach or seafront......Very nice and always fresh so worth it to a degree.
