Well indeed rubbish for collection and rubbish spouted when reporting non collection!

As most people nearby lost their green recycle boxes a few weeks back, there was a shortage and most places were awaiting replacements.  Put my plastics in a black bag with a note on so the bin men could take it for recycling.  They didnt so I phoned Veolia and got interrogated as to where I have tried to get a new box and when I tried etc,....Still dont have one so makes little difference.  Then they explained  there was a very good reason why the bin men cant take recycling in bin bags.........they apparently have nowhere to put the black bags when they have emptied them and they cant have them blowing down the roads!!!  Wonder what was wrong with the big dustcart that they put the general rubbish in that is usually in black bin bags.......

I had a green bin full of plastic, it had 1 wine bottle in it (Not mine) so they left the lot.
I feel like dumping it outside the Councils Office but i know they'd start rifling through my general rubbish looking for cans/plastics and fining me in revenge.

Our red recycling box doesn't have a lid that fits it, so we always put the paper & card in the green recycling box. The bin men still empty it for us. Perhaps you could try putting your plastics in the red box and see if they do the same, Viv?

Am I being a bit dense or can anyone tell me why the great thinkers at TDC/Veolia supplied a bin for paper recycling without a lid as seems to be the case?

I think the answer to that Dave is in your question IE: TDC/Veolia = idiots

I'm waiting for the day when we go fortnightly for black bag collections but still only allowed to put tins and plastic bottles and no other metal or plastic in the recycling bin

Sounds about right.

You can get replacement lids for recycling bins (or new bins) free of charge from the counter at the Town Hall.  When I got mine, all I had to do is provide my postcode.  They have a small room full of bins and lids.

I think, once upon a time, Jaywickians could get bins & lids from the resource centre, but, must admit i have not been in the loop of things here for quite a few years now so it may be different now,

or, my brain has clouded over...lol

would take far too long to explain why we retired 10 years early and moved here,
but never regretted doing either.

Expanding on this subject, why is it some people are so antisocial. Yesterday we did our usual ride to a garden centre for coffee and snack. Every road, be it country side or main roads, the verge and hedge were full of rubbish.

The worst I think is the slip road from 120 to 133. It was only 2 weeks ago that we noticed the men clearing the rubbish, but yesterday it really was disgusting.

How do we stop this disgusting habit, that some people seem to find acceptable?

I did hear that you are being encouraged to submit any dashcam footage, of the offenders, but that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Education is likely to be the first step to help......the amount of children that come out of school and just drop their sweet wrappers and crisp bags as they walk along just beggars belief.  Seems that they just dont know not to.

Community Service punishment should include regular clearing rubbish and litter from grass verges too.

RUBBISH, lol, try living within a quarter mile of a Holiday resort tin can destination for dropped rubbish... tourists driving out think nothing of just chucking everything out the windows as they drive by, from sweet papers to soiled nappies can be seen in heavy holiday traffic diving through yet its us locals who get pointed at mostly.. then we have the return to nest chuckers who when finished there take away meals just chuck the paper and cardboard containers out the windows before arriving back at base camp one Martello Beach Jaywick...... Rubbish is not always dropped thrown or discarded by us locals, but, some of our locals are not guilt free...

would take far too long to explain why we retired 10 years early and moved here,
