Hi all,
The website is up for renewel in February and owing to the little usage, i'm thinking about just closing it down due to me not havin much time to maintain and fund it anymore.
I don't want to start putting adverts on the pages and there's little or no activity for up to 6 days in some cases.
I'm gutted to be honest but is it worth it?

What's your thoughts on this??

Regards

Stuart

Stuart, your decision does not surprise me. As you say, less and less use...…………..I so sorry, I just don't know the answer! I thought it would be a winner, thank you for trying!

I was so relieved when you started this site, as I was sad to see streetlife sell out, but you are right. Without people posting regularly, there is little point in continuing.

Thank you for trying and giving us a chance!

To be honest Stuart I am surprised  you didn't close it sooner. For whatever reason it has never really taken off and with the hassle you get from the spammers flooding the forums, it must be annoying!

It is a shame as it could have been a real community hub for H.O.S. but it seems it was not meant to be.

Thank you for attempting to bring the community together   ?

It's a shame that only four people have responded to your announcement Stuart but that seems to indicate that it's time to call it a day.  All credit to you for giving your time and money to get the site started.  I lost interest in visiting the site when the A - Z stuff began - perhaps that put others off too.  However, you seem to have a group of loyal supporters who will no doubt miss posting to each other.  Good luck with any new ventures you embark on.

Thank you Stuart for all the effort you put in to run this site, such a shame as I thought it had great potential.

Yes shame , but however you tried you could not get new members to participate,  I myself have found the last 2 years very helpful and informative.

Thanks for your effort,  sorry the members did not put in the support,  that you have given Tendring Talk

I have found this social web site helpful and informative and has helped me in a number of ways. I be sorry to see it go but understand why. But I have never seen it advertised or prompted in anyway. I came across it by accident and pleased I did.

Thanks guys/gals,

It's nice to actually log in and see comments from the last few hours lol
I'll see how it goes until Feb, not sure how i can advertise it more as i'd be gutted to let it cease as i've spent hundreds of hours on it..

Stuart, it will be a shame if you do decide to close the site but if you do I join with others here and thank you for having made it available to us.

everyone i have spoken to has never heard of this site. that can't be helping.

it also can't help that those that find the site will not find a lot going on.

what's to keep people staying, even if they join ? A-Z ? ... nope, not that 🙂

i don't think this is a case of "build it and they will come". it requires a bit more.

some ideas off the top of my head:

* create threads about things going on locally/nationally in the news and try to get members to respond.

* give it more a sense of a united community - maybe not break everything out into smaller forums.

* have an editorial to give some commentary on the local area.

* get some local companies involved to advertise - reduced rates initially.  useful for local people to learn about local companies.

* advertise the site - preferably when there's a bit more going on to keep people here

but ... that all sounds like a huge amount of work for an unknown result; wouldn't blame you for not wanting to attempt it - you've got a business to run after all.

whatever you decide, i wish you all the best Stuart. Thanks for at least trying.

Ok, peeps. I just logged into Admin Email and had a few lovely Emails from some of you thanking me and i couldn't bring myself to do it because of many reasons and the 15th Jan Was the last day so i just extended it for another year 🙂

See how/where we are January 2020 🙂
I'll look into trying to get it out there more but as we've discussed before, we don't really want a replica of Facebook or some of the types of people on there.
Anyway, thanks for all your particiaption and contributions and hope we can get more people on board TT

Thanks again

Regards

Stuart
